Between Borgholm and Färjestaden you will find the charming village of Stora Rör, idyllically situated directly on the Kalmar Strait. The village's harbour has a long history as a ferry base, as the strait between the island and the mainland is narrowest here. Today, however, the small harbour only serves as a marina and fishing port. Because Öland is so flat, it is considered the perfect island for cycling. The island is so narrow that you can cycle to the sea from anywhere on the island. So it's best to bring your bikes with you!
