Welcome to Hill Farm - Located in the beautiful Shropshire countryside, close to Shrewsbury and Whitchurch. Conveniently placed for many local attractions, to the Shropshire Way, to Shrewsbury and the North Wales border. Situated in the picturesque village of Clive, it’s an ideal spot for ramblers, mountain bikers and runners keen to explore Corbet Wood and Grinshill, The Shropshire Way and beyond while being only seven miles to Shrewsbury. The self-contained annexe is part of the farmhouse with its own entrance, so guests can come and go as they please.
Internally, the Annexe can accommodate up to three guests with one bedroom on the first floor (1 double bed and a sofa bed), including a smart TV. A ground floor bathroom with shower and a kitchenette with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Externally, there is vast amounts of rural space, including your own private seating area by a delightful pond with views of the Shropshire countryside and on good days you can see the Snowdonia mountains. Located on a working Farm, there is livestock roaming around in some of the fields, so to be mindful of this when you’re exploring. There are two extremely friendly hens that may come and say hello during your stay too. Lockable storage for bikes or outdoor equipment and private parking is available.
Hill Farm is a stone’s throw from Corbet Wood and Grinshill, with scenic walks and cycle routes, graced by stunning views of the nearby Hawkstone Park, Shropshire Hills, and Welsh mountain peaks. This beautiful area is famous for its ancient mines and natural stone production and is a worldwide discovery site for dozens of Megaliths, dating as far back as 7000 BC. Your walks can start from the doorstep, through woodland, following the Shropshire Way. There is a local shop and pub in Hadnall, two miles away, and a train station in Yorton, a mile from Hill Farm. A regular bus service to Shrewsbury operates from Clive. Shrewsbury’s town centre is almost an island, encircled by a meandering loop of the River Severn. Within its loop are distinctive churches, Shrewsbury Castle, beautiful timber-framed houses, and a sweeping riverside parkland known as the Quarry or Quarry Park. There are local gastro pubs within a few miles from Hill Farm, and a wide range of places to eat in Shrewsbury. Other attractions include Hawkstone Park, an extraordinary mix of natural landscape and the Gothic Arch on Grotto Hill is well worth a look. There is a great deal on offer at Alderford Lake - from wild paddling, canoeing, dining, and events going on throughout the year. Ellesmere is a traditional Shropshire market town, only 12 miles away. With medieval streets, Georgian houses, and half-timbered buildings. The Mere is the largest and most spectacular of the nine glacial meres in the area. The Llangollen Canal runs through the area also.
