The Chateau is situated in the old village of St Victor la Coste which is equidistant between Avignon in Provence and the charming market town of Uzes in Languedoc. It is surrounded by stunning countryside renowned for some of the best vineyards in France - notably Chateauneuf des Papes , Lirac and Tavel. Our local Cotes de Rhone is excellent ! The countryside is oak forests and small country lanes so very popular with cyclists and walkers . We are only a short distance from Mont Ventoux- a challenge for the hardy cyclists as it is always part of the Tour de France. Add charming french markets, food and antiques , art and cultural pursuits , kayaking at Pont du Gard and it really is the most perfect place to holiday for the whole family. There is also a communal salon with comfy sofas , television and indoor dining table for cooler days. The Chateau is only 2 minutes walk to the charming village of St Victor la Coste with boulangerie and epicerie, pharmacie and tabac plus cafe restaurant L’Industrie with tables under the trees.
The chateau is located just a short stroll from village restaurant and essential shops. Larger shops and banks are 4km away. In this wonderful part of France there are miles of sandy beaches, islands, rivers and lots to see and do for all age groups.
The chateau is situated approximately four miles from the nearest beach (Marennes), on the edge of the village of St Just-Luzac, half an hour's drive south of the famous ancient port of La Rochelle and quarter of an hour north of the well-known seaside resort of Royan.
St Just-Luzac is on the mainland opposite the island of Oleron. This is an area rich in history that boasts the best climate in France with as many hours of sunshine as the Mediterranean coast.
Local activities include chateaux, wine tours, beaches and local markets. There is also excellent golf and bird watching in the area.
