Donald’s Peak View is a new purpose-built lodge set on a friendly, family run touring holiday park which lies in a quiet, picturesque location at the foot of Glen Duror on the southern boundary of Lochaber. The park is well sheltered and is a real sun trap in the summer months. The park is very family friendly and does not accept group bookings, so you are ensured a quiet and peaceful stay.
You will be so comfortable in this stunning lodge which has an open plan lounge/diner/kitchen a Freeview Smart TV with DVD, Bluetooth speaker, gas central heating and patio doors onto a decking area which wraps around the front and side of the lodge. The kitchen is exceptionally well-equipped ensuring that you can self-cater with ease, with a separate utility room offering wet weather gear storage, a washing machine and useful sink. There is a surprisingly spacious, welcoming double bedroom with Freeview TV, dressing room and en-suite bathroom with shower over bath. The twin bedroom next door benefits from a Freeview Smart TV, ensuring that everyone enjoys the best of entertainment. There is also a family shower room with good-sized walk-in shower.
“Donald’s Peak View” or “Sealladh Sgorr Dhonuill” in Gaelic, is named for the perfect view of this stunning Munro from the lodge. The area is a delight for walkers, surrounded by stunning coastal and mountain walks, with two Munro class mountains close by, and directly outside the park, there are various way marked trails leading up into the forest of Glen Duror. Route 78, part of the Sustrans cycle network, runs parallel to the park and is an excellent, safe route for walking your dog, jogging and cycling, joining up with the Ballahulish and Appin routes.
Cuil Bay is approx. 2 miles from the park to the west and is an excellent location for sailing, canoeing, swimming, boating, wind surfing and diving. The villages of Appin and Port Appin are 10 and 12 miles respectively to the south and offer an excellent choice of cafes and inns, all offering breath-taking views and delicious local food as well as gift shops, a renowned garden centre and a garage with fuel. 2½ miles to the North is Kentallen, offering a fantastic restaurant with bar and swimming pool, and within 10-minutes’ drive, are the villages of Ballachulish and Glencoe, which offer a small supermarket, tourist information, cafes, bars, restaurants and activities.
Steeped in history and surrounded by the most breath-taking scenery, Glencoe offers many sports and outdoor activities, including winter sports, hill walking, climbing, mountaineering, fishing and water sports, mountain biking and golfing. Despite its tranquillity, Duror is conveniently located between Fort William, known as the ’Outdoor Capital of the UK’ where you can access Aonach Mor mountain range and Ben Nevis, and the popular town of Oban, the ‘Seafood Capital of Scotland’ and ‘Gateway to the Isles’ which has an abundance of shops and restaurants, as well as ferries to islands such as stunning Mull, Iona and Staffa, amongst others.
