The park provides a magical base for couples and friends, and an excellent choice for a family break at any time of year.
On-site, the park provides a wide variety of activities for all ages and tastes including woodland trails, outdoor activities, an animal corner, bug hotel and bird feeding viewing wall, as well as swimming pool. Whilst off-site there is a huge range of places to visit many on the doorstep including the fabulous brand new RSPB Visitor Centre in Sherwood Forest just 3 miles away, and the beautiful Rufford Abbey Country Park a short stroll away.
Due to steep gradients and steps, Sherwood Castle Holiday Forest is not suitable for wheelchair users or persons with mobility difficulties.. Booking Restrictions
Due to the nature of the site, no groups of teenagers or under 20s are allowed. All group bookings, multiple lodge bookings, work bookings and non-couple single sex parties need to be checked prior to booking and the name of who agreed the booking from Sherwood Castle must be noted on the booking. Sherwood Castle is a relaxed family park and expect the nature of the park to be respected by all guests. You have parking for 2 cars free of charge, if you need a 3rd car there is a charge of £15 and needs to be booked with Sherwood Castle prior to your arrival to be guaranteed. Some lodges have log burners, others have central heating, so please check you are booking the correct lodge. If you have a log burner logs/ kindling & firelighters are payable at reception. Gas & Electricity is included in Harmony, Woodlander, Friar Tuck and Loxley units - All others require a £15 card deposit on arrival.

In recent years, an unexplained dog illness known as 'seasonal canine illness' has been found in an increasing number of forest areas around the UK, particularly in late summer and early autumn. The illness is currently believed to be triggered by a naturally occurring cause and has affected a number of dogs in areas across the country. Cases of Alabama Rot have also been reported around the country. This is another unexplained disease affecting dogs. None of our villages have been identified as locations with cases of Alabama Rot, but in the interest of vigilance, we recommend dog owners familiarise themselves with the symptoms on the Forestry website. “ If you are visiting a “Forrest environment with a dog please ensure you’re aware of the potential risks of a forest environment to animals. Please research or talk to your veterinary surgeon about SCI (Seasonal Canine Illness) and Alabama Rot. Please note, due to refurbishments, the swimming pool will not be available until February.
