The seaport city of Emden is 30 km away and the North Sea coast is approximately 50 km away. Our village has 500 inhabitants, is idyllically situated and has been awarded several times as a winner in the competition Our village has been awarded a future. Backemoor was even national winner in 2018. During a walk through the village one discovers a pottery and the especially worth seeing almost 800 year old church with the sonorous Wenthin organ. In addition, the old windmill is under construction again. The nearby nature reserve Holter Hammrich offers nature lovers a variety of meadow birds to watch. Here, the typical East Frisian countryside invites you to relax, rest, hike, jog and cycle without car traffic. 3 km away is the Pünte, the oldest hand-operated ferry in Northern Europe.
