Just down the road from Chip & Jo's Magnolia farmstead, beyond the private gates and up the winding drive, this light-filled cottage intrigues guests with art and artifacts reminiscent of the naturalist John James Audubon. Perfect for a couple craving a dreamy get-away or anyone needing a restful retreat within easy driving distance of all the fun Waco has to offer as well as nearby attractions--antique stores, historic movie theater, vineyards, lakes...
Writers, artists and dreamers love to explore and create at the sprawling, handcrafted desk. Nature lovers can't get enough of the wrap around picture windows and outdoor spots to watch birds swooping in and out of the giant oak groves and deer grazing in the meadows. Readers love to curl up in the corner chairs with plenty of time for a great book.
The spacious (410 square foot), two-room haven features tastefully curated art, books and antiques, a stately king size bed under a vaulted ceiling, large screen ROKU tv, twin reading chairs with comfy ottomans and studio kitchen (microwave, induction cooktop, cookware, fridge, sink, coffee maker, tea kettle and Brita filtered water pitcher). The oversized garden tub (with shower) beside a picture window makes for a luxuriously deep soak--just one of the posh amenities of the spacious en suite bathroom. And there's nothing quite like savoring a meal, coffee or tea on the broad flagstone patio when the weather's nice. Long-term guests have access to on site laundry room.
Outdoors, you're welcome to explore ten private acres of Texas countryside with majestic sprawling oak, elm and cedar trees where deer wander freely and birds love to nest. Dine or relax on the broad, flagstone patio. When weather permits, we often build a bonfire (by request) in the huge stone firepit for our guests during fall and winter.
