This beautiful old house is in the pretty village of Léran, only a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk from the stunning Lac Montbel with a beach, water sports, childrens' activities and wooded walks. Recently renovated, the accommodation provides a high standard of living with spacious bedrooms with two super kingsize and one kingsize beds, luxurious bed linens, a large modern well-equipped kitchen with two ovens and induction hob, cosy lounge, utility room with washing machine and separate dining room. There is a downstairs toilet and 2 bathrooms on the first floor. Both bathrooms have large walk-in showers and one has a luxurious cast iron freestanding enamel bath. The lounge has a tv with access to all channels (English, I player, ITV hub etc. and French TV) and free WIFI. The large garden has two seated areas in the shade, two sundecks and an above ground pool to cool off in the hot summer sun.
The village lies at the foot of the Cathar mountains and so offers many beautiful walks and trails. The cycling pathway of the voie verte runs close by and cycle hire is available in the village, 2 minutes from the house. The village has a community shop where you can get your fresh baguettes and croissants for breakfast and fruit and veg, fish, meat and a pizza van come on specific days each week. There are two bar/restaurants in the village and a pizzeria overlooking the lake. Every Friday during July and August the village holds a Marche Gourmande, which is a food festival down the main street of Léran. Local street food vendors have delicious food on offer (Moules frites, steak cooked in front of you, Chinese etc.), local wine and beer and live music later on. Take your own plates and cutlery and have a fab evening! There is a similar festival every Saturday in Laguarde in the setting of the old chateau with a hog roast and spectacular views; a 10 minute drive.
The stunning medieval town of Mirepoix is a 10 minute drive away and holds a famous outdoor market every Monday as well as having a good range of shops and restaurants. You are only 40 minutes from Carcassonne and about an hour from Toulouse.
