Detached 19th century farm house with in-ground salt pool, large garden and play areas. Situated in southern Vendee in the village of Saint Maurice le Girard. A wonderfully tranquil location standing alone amongst fields and with no near neighbours but still only a short walk from the village and 5 minutes’ drive to the town of La Chataigneriae. The perfect place for anyone wishing to unwind and relax with the benefit of having a private pool. Suited to a couple/couple wishing to escape for a romantic or peaceful week . There are many activities in the local area to explore.
The moment guests enter into the driveway where there is parking for up 4 cars, they will appreciate the location of La Menarderie. Hidden behind the gates, the house and garden are a delightful surprise.
The House
The entrance to the house takes you into the kitchen and dining area which are spacious and ensure that meals together in the house can be sociable. The kitchen is well equipped with a large fridge, full sized oven and microwave and a dishwasher to ensure that no-one spends too long at the kitchen sink!
However, the view from the kitchen window over the cornfield to hills beyond ensures that even time at the sink can be a pleasure. Beyond the pretty bread oven at the back of the kitchen is the suitably large utility room where guests will find a freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. The dining area leads into the lovely lounge where all guests can relax and make use of the ample books and games that are available or just sit and watch the television. There is also a DVD player. If visiting outside of the summer season it’s possible to use the wood burning fire which will ensure days and evenings remain warm and cosy. The downstairs double bedroom is situated at the back of the lounge and has an en-suite shower, bath, sink and toilet. There is also a walk-in wardrobe. The room has the added benefit of having French doors that open directly onto the courtyard.
The stairs in the dining area lead upstairs to the other 3 double sized bedrooms. La Menarderie has excellent sleeping accommodation and is perfect for guests to decide a room of their choice .
Upstairs has a shower room with a toilet and there is a separate toilet. There are mosquito nets on all the bedroom windows and Velux skylights along the landing to allow for extra light and air to circulate. Every bedroom has the facility of an electric fan.
The Courtyard, Garden and Pool
Directly in front of the house is the gravel courtyard. It is possible to sit here and enjoy the sun all day long if you wish where the perfume of the roses and jasmine in the summer months fill the air. To the right of the courtyard is the outdoor eating and barbecue area. Here guests can enjoy sitting under the pergola and whilst cooking on the BBQ can take in the vista across to the village or watch the sun setting. Walk beyond the seating area to the area to the bottom of the garden you will find a great space that can be used for ball games or just to run around and let off steam! It is here that guests will appreciate the location of La Menarderie situated amongst the fields. Truly unique.
The pool is to be found in the middle of the garden. An inviting in ground salt pool (gentler on the eyes and skin than chlorine) of a consistent 1.4metres depth and 4 metres in length. There are sun beds surrounding the pool for guests to use and a solar powered shower for use prior to entering and on exit from the pool. A wonderful place to relax and unwind. There is an electric safety cover for the pool. The pool is regularly maintained and water tested for safety and water balance.

Situated on the outskirts of St. Maurice le Girard the villa had open fields all around with plenty of land for the grandchildren to explore. We were made welcome by Ashley & Rebecca, the Property Managers, who were always available if we needed them. The boys loved the large swimming pool and we all swam and played table tennis every day. La Menarderie was well equipped with everything we needed. The week's stay definitely wasn't long enough and we look forward to returning again soon.

We spent a week here with family including two young grandchildren. It was ideal for us. The garden is lovely and the pool is great. All so safe and we had everything we could possibly need. In the end we didn’t explore too much as we were so peaceful and private at the property. The house is very comfortable and homely with masses of books, nice paintings and decoration and we felt as relaxed as home. Would book again.
