We have converted our carriage house, which looks like a traditional red barn, into a comfortable vacation rental home. It is on the north side of Chilliwack in farm country, just minutes away from the Fraser River and downtown Chilliwack. The house has a large master bedroom with a king-sized bed and a twin-sized day bed with a twin trundle bed underneath. It also has a den with a fold out queen-sized bed. The beds are all quite new, with cotton sheets and hypoallergenic duvets. The bedding is all washed according to current cleanliness standards, and high-touch surfaces are disinfected between guests. There is in-suite laundry, and one bathroom with shower. The vacation rental is all on the ground level, and the upstairs of the barn is vacant.
The owners live in the main house on the property, but there is a fence dividing the two yard areas. There is plenty of lawn space adjacent to the slough where you can sit and watch ducks and otters and blue herons from time to time. The water level varies seasonally from a stream to a small river, depending on the time of year. We have had kids here before and they seem to enjoy having space to run around! There is an outdoor sitting area, and no dedicated BBQ for the rental however we generally leave ours free for guests to use. It is cozy in cool weather, as it has in-floor heating throughout and an electric fireplace. There is also an outdoor firepit, but only for use during the rainy seasons. There is no central air conditioning but we put two window air conditioners in for the summer.
Pets are not allowed. WiFi is included and the TV is set up to stream video from your smartphone or tablet, usually using the guest's own Netflix app (there is no cable TV). There is a TV in the living room and in the bedroom, and so far it's worked quite well with the current setup.
