The house was built by a writer some 60+ years ago and we fell in love with it and the surroundings the moment we saw it 27+ years ago. Larry works from home; he is a retired college administrator and a recognized regional artist. Tammy works (mostly) from home and enjoys her career as a professional non-fiction editor and life coach. We have welcomed many creative types, especially writers, to our home.
Spacious yet cozy 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom self-contained guest apartment with everything you may need for your home-away-from-home. Our top priority is providing a safe and clean environment for our guests; we are committed to enhanced cleanliness. Fragrant-free and as allergy and MCS-friendly as possible. Pet-free. High-speed internet is suitable for most work-from-home situations. Hosts live onsite in a separate suite. Check-in time is 4 pm-8 pm.

Our charmingly furnished private guest apartment offers 2 bedrooms (one with a queen-sized bed and the other with 2 single beds), a 3-piece bathroom, a living room, a fully equipped kitchen, and a separate dining room.
Guests are usually surprised at how spacious and comfortable our guest apartment is. The rooms are well-appointed with an eclectic mix of vintage and modern furnishings. We have almost everything guests need to make it just like home. The home has central forced-air natural gas heating and air conditioning, updated in October 2020 to include ultra-violet (UV) technology. We are green-oriented, recycling, and composting.
Cleanliness has always been top of mind for us. Tammy completed the "Clean It Right" training from the Manitoba of Tourism Education Council in June 2020 and the Airbnb cleaning protocol.
Kitchen - For guests who love to cook, the kitchen is stocked with an assortment of cooking and dishware, including a few extras like a slow cooker and rice cooker.
Laundry - A shared laundry room (with hosts) is available for convenience. We launder all linens and towels with laundry detergent, "Unscented and Hypoallergenic for Sensitive Skin, Free and Clear of Dyes and Perfumes."
Guest access - The guest accommodation is completely self-contained and dedicated for our guests, private by virtue of its own entrance. It is in our home, separate from our private accommodations. Many guests like this arrangement because we are on-site and available.
The outdoor amenities include a fireplace, BBQ, a covered terrace so you can hide from the sun or stay outside when it rains, an open terrace overlooking the garden, and privacy. Tuck away and read on the patio, terrace, or in the garden. Take a stroll around the neighborhood. We are in a park-like setting on a 3/4 acre serene natural treed setting. There is plenty of free parking.
Other things - We have been providing extended temporary guest accommodation for 27+ years but we are new to VRBO.
Our home is quiet and an ideal home-away-from-home while you're here for work or upgrading your education/training. We have hosted professionals coming to Canada for longer-term career-related stays -- for example, physicians, academics, and other professionals.
We have hosted individuals and families for as little as 1 week, as long as 12 months (i.e sabbaticals), and everything in between. Longer-term stays, past 3 months, may qualify for a discounted rate.

No Pets Policy - Animals create a health issue for the hosts. We appreciate your compassion and ask you to instead please book alternative accommodation for you and your service/emotional support animal. Dogs and cats—whether a pet, assistance, service or emotional support animal or not—are a health issue for the hosts. We are mentioning this in our listing to avoid any potential disappointment. We appreciate your understanding and compassion.
Cancellation Policy - We have a strict cancellation policy. We encourage you to take out travel insurance and ensure it covers accommodation.

PANDEMIC-specific ASSISTANCE: During the pandemic, we have offered guests grocery pick-up while they may be isolated or quarantined. We are here to help where we can.
PANDEMIC-specific HEALTH PROTOCOL: While staying with us, the guest agrees to and will advise the host if they or anyone in their family staying in the home have Covid symptoms and test positive. We have home Covid tests available; ask us, and we'll gladly give them to you. This is important to hosts so we can take extra precautions as we live on the home's upper level and are on the same HVAC system.
NOT PERMITTED: parties or visitors not preregistered at the time of reservation.
NOT PERMITTED: smoking or vaping, tobacco or cannabis (both medical and recreational) indoors in the home/apartment. Smoke-free environment. This includes all manner of smoking: cigarettes, cigars, bidis, kreteks, vaping devices, electronic cigarettes, hand pipes, bubblers, bongs, dab rigs, hookahs, DIY disposable devices, joints, blunts, and spliffs, and anything else that is not mentioned here but considered a "smoking" device.
GUEST DEPARTURE: Please leave the guest apartment in a similar condition to which you found the apartment. Due to Covid, guests are asked to clean their dishes and other dishware, take out their garbage and recyclables, and deposit them in the garbage bin outside.
