This stunning modern property is set among more traditional Greek houses right in the heart of beautiful Koroni which is a much sought after destination for the more discerning traveler, with some of the best beaches in Greece!
This large detached property sleeps up to 4 people in bedrooms and if necessary 2 on a very good quality bed settee in the upstairs living room. The larger bedroom has a king sized, very comfortable bed and the smaller bedroom has 2 single beds.
In the larger bedroom is a flat screen Apple tv and both bedrooms have plenty of storage space and air/conditioning.
Double glazed doors lead from the large bedroom to a pretty courtyard garden where there are plenty of places to sit on a sultry Summer night and smell the flowers, jasmine, lavender etc. soaking up that special Greek atmosphere .
Bedroom two has doors leading to a balcony overlooking the courtyard garden with a pretty bouganvillea and table and chairs.
Leading of the entrance hall, the bedrooms are served by a modern, stylish shower room with plenty of hot water heated by a solar panel, beautifully tiled and with his and hers wash basins and a w.c.
There is a utility room of the shower room with washing machine and dryer for your use .
Also in the entrance hall can be found a small refrigerator for keeping your drinks cool, and a kettle for making that early morning coffee in bed!
Going up the winding marble stairs you come to the large living/kitchen area.
Here there is a stunning, modern kitchen with large fridge/freezer, built in oven and microwave and an induction hob. There is plenty of worktop space and an abundance of utensils and dishes, pots and pans etc.
Step through the doors of the kitchen on to a small balcony with swinging seat to enjoy those quiet moments with a good book. This balcony is nice and shady in the afternoons.
There is also a small cloakroom from the kitchen with w.c. and hand basin.
A good sized table in the living/kitchen seats up to 6 persons.
At the other end of the living space is a sofa, two armchairs and a piano. Also blue tooth stereo equipment and good wifi connection throughout the house.
Leading of the living area is a large balcony for outdoor dining with stunning views across the rooftops to the sea and Koroni's ancient Castle, in fact wherever you are in the house your eye is drawn to the views from both balconies and windows.
Just a minutes walk from the house is a mini market, so handy for buying bread, milk , ice cream etc. no need to run out of anything!
Turn right out of the property entrance and follow the road heading down to Zaga, a stunning bathing beach, 2.5 kms of golden sand and clear blue sea. Sunbeds and umbrellas can be hired and there is even a wifi connection, all for a few euros a day. All this just a 10 minute walk away, or less!
This beach is home to nesting Loggerhead Turtles who come back every year in June to lay their eggs, with luck if one is on the beach at the right time it is possible to see the hatchlings rushing to the sea in July/August. There are many nests along the beach and a group of volunteers monitor them every morning, why not get up early and join them for the daily check on the nests, in town the volunteers man a kiosk where they are happy to give information about the Turtles and to sell Turtle souvenirs.
If you need the occasional break from the sun and sea there is a good Taverna/Cafe just above the beach, a nice place to cool down with a cold beer and the traditional Greek Salad etc. open in the evenings , also for food and occasional live Greek music!
Stroll down the cobbled streets away from the house passing wonderful, quirky cottages and there you will find all the shops you could need for a pleasant stay. Koroni town is famous for its red roofed houses and beautiful churches.
Also there is a town beach, very good for bathing and another beach a short walk across town with its own restaurant, called Artaki, highly recommended. The sea is very shallow here so ideal for children.
In town there are two banks with ATM's both in several languages and a post office.
There is also a small supermarket and a larger one on the road out of town towards Kalamata, the larger one is open all day and on Sunday mornings in the Summer. Most of the small shops in town close at about 1 o clock - 5 o clock for siesta then stay open until 9 p.m. and beyond in the Summer.
Every Sunday morning Koroni hosts a produce market on the harbour side, starting early until about midday, where seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables as well as eggs and herbs and various other items can be bought. Then stroll along the harbour, meet with friends and have a delicious coffee and pastry and watch the different boats coming and going , if there early enough buy fresh fish directly of the boats from the local fishermen.
There is a pharmacist, bakers, fresh fish shop and wine shops selling a variety of Greek wines on the street back from the harbour as well as craft and souvenir shops.
If you need to hire a taxi, they are available from outside the large church on the square, very cheap and with friendly taxi drivers.
A bus runs back and forth to Kalamata several times a day, a town (city) well worth a visit, especially the old town with fascinating shops and great restaurants but remember that the last bus back to Koroni leaves Kalamata bus station at 7 0 clock (19.00 hrs)
The first bus leaves Koroni direct to Athens airport at 7.40 in the morning but tickets must be bought beforehand from a cafe in the nearby town of Xarokopio.
Starting in May through to October Koroni hosts a music festival and there are 1 or 2 concerts a week , there are also art exhibitions and sometimes Greek dancing, tickets can be bought from one of the gift shops in town.
