As you approach the Hayloft, you'll begin to get an idea of the tranquillity of its location, set within the grounds of Walnut Farm - a nine-acre farm in the Cotswolds that's surrounded by open countryside with just a few neighbouring properties, including the owners who live in the converted barn across the courtyard. Yet despite the rural scene, the Hayloft is within a stone's throw of the Hunter's Hall pub and within a 10-minute drive of the two fabulous, but not-so-busy, Cotswold towns of Tetbury - an antiques lover's dream - and Nailsworth - a foodie and house interior lover's dream!
At the Hayloft you have your own private, enclosed, courtyard garden with patio and lily pond, which is the perfect place to relax on hot summer days, plus a stylish Mediterranean-style, open veranda to enjoy sitting in on cooler evenings or warmer but wet days. There is private parking for two cars within a secure courtyard.
As you step through the front door, you'll immediately feel the Hayloft's calming ambience, with the natural tones of greys, whites, and mushroom set against the unique and verdant backdrop of the courtyard garden peeking at you through the kitchen and French windows. The open-plan living-dining area is light and bright with a double-height ceiling and features a wood-burning stove and spiral staircase up to the glass and oak framed mezzanine floor bedroom. Entrance:
Step through the front door and head down one step where you'll find a handy coat and shoe rack with a seat - the perfect place to take off your shoes and start your stay. The downstairs living area and dressing room have beautiful polished-wood flooring throughout.
The Living Room:
The bright, double-height, generously sized living area, with exposed beams, features a large wood burning stove set on a stone hearth, with plenty of logs and a basket of fire cones to use during the chilly months. The area is furnished with a large, sink-in sofa, a coffee table, a bookcase (with lots of books), an antique armchair, and a 40-inch Sony flat screen Smart TV. French doors provide a tantalising view to the truly unique outside space - a courtyard garden complete with a lily pond and a delightful covered veranda… more on this treasure below!
The Kitchen:
Just off to one side of the living area is a compact and very well-equipped kitchen, with a double oven and five-burner gas hob, a Smeg fridge with freezer compartment, a Nespresso coffee machine, and a cafetiere, a dishwasher and washer-dryer - and a lovely view out to the garden. Beside the kitchen area is a dining table, which comfortably seats two, and an antique pine dresser full of crockery and serving plates and dining table mats.
The Dressing Room:
This unique sleeps-two holiday home benefits from a delightful dressing room furnished with a retro-style wardrobe, with hanging space and shelves, an antique dressing table with a chair and mirror, a 4-seater sofa with a reading lamp, a laundry basket, and a long wall mirror. The wardrobe houses an iron and hairdryer, while an ironing board sits to one side.
Shower Room:
The hidden-away shower room features a polished Cotswold stone floor and wall tiles, a large walk-in shower, a washbasin in a hand-built washstand, with a mirror and plenty of room for personal items, a heated towel rail, and a hot air fan for extra comfort.
First Floor
Bedroom:
The sleeping area is a glass and oak framed, mezzanine floor in the eaves, accessed via a bespoke spiral staircase, which was created from the old hay store. An inviting super-king-size bed, with gorgeous Egyptian cotton bedding, sits at the centre of the space with a table and reading lamp at the head of the bed and a loft window with lovely views across the rooftops to the surrounding countryside. The outside area is unique and a delightful surprise! Step through the French windows from the open-plan living area to a courtyard garden that's planted with bamboo, fig, magnolia, wisteria, and beautiful low-level planting, with the sound of tinkling water feeding to a delightful lily pond, creating a lush, semi-tropical feel to this secluded and tranquil area. Immediately outside the French doors is a patio with Cotswold stone paving and a table and chairs. Opposite the patio is a Mediterranean-style, open-sided, but covered, veranda with a wicker sofa, chair, and table, creating the perfect space to relax, meditate, practice yoga, read, or simply sit and listen to the water burbling in the background - any time of day, come rain or shine.
To the side of the courtyard is a path with a gate leading to the front of the Hayloft.
