The Domaine is 5 minutes from the busy market town of Matha, 20 minutes from Cognac, 30 minutes from Saintes, and within easy reach of the Atlantic beaches, La Rochelle and the chic il de Re.
Relax and unwind whilst you take a dip in the heated 11 x 5.5 metre swimming pool, in the organic orchard, overlooking the vineyards..
Rose cottage (165 sq metres ), converted from the former stables, is very spacious and sleeps 6 (+cot).
Classified 4 stars by the French Tourist office (meuble de tourisme 4 etoiles) it is tastefully decorated in French country style. Traditional features are combined with quality furnishings, Egyptian cotton bed linen, fluffy white towels and pool towels to provide a comfortable and luxurious stay,
The sitting room with it's soaring cathedral ceiling furnished with comfy leather sofas opens onto a private terrace overlooking the lily pond on one side, and onto the south facing private walled garden on the other..
For your entertainment, there is fibre high speed internet connection, French & UK Sky Freeview TV, DVD player, mini hifi system as well as well stocked bookcasesglossy magazines and indoor boardgames
An open tread staircase leads to a romantic master bedroom (30 sq metres) on the mezzanine floor. Under a sparkling chandelier, the super king size bed, has a pretty wrought iron ciel du lit with fine voile drapes and a mix of painted and old pine furniture.A a comfy sofa and antique chair add to the charm.
From here a door opens onto a large twin bedroom (21 sq metres), which also has a sofa and is ideal for younger family members.
A cot, high chair and stairgate are available at no extra cost.
On the ground floor there is a charming double bedroom (18 sq metres) with pretty old pine furniture and a cage chandelier, benefitting from an ensuite shower room.
The ground floor family bathroom has pretty provencal tiles, terracotta floor, twin washbasins, corner bath with shower attachment and WC. Each bathroom has a heated towel rail and hairdryer.
To ensure a relaxing stay, beds are made up ready for your arrival and there are snuggly duvets for the cooler months and electric fans to keep you cool in summer
Keen cooks will find everything they need in the fully equipped farmhouse kitchen/dining room which has direct access to the south facing walled garden. There is a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, oven with gas hob; microwave, toaster, kettle, blender, cafetiere and Nespresso machine .
Here you will find our complimentary welcome pack of wine, coffee/tea/tisanes, home made jam, cakes/biscuits and fresh fruit.
Each cottage has its own washing machine, tumble dryer, linen basket, washing line, iron and ironing board. Dishwasher tablets and cleaning products for the kitchen and bathroom are supplied.
Outside windowsills hold cheery geraniums and the large walled garden planted with wisteria, hollyhocks and roses includes a sitting area furnished with teak table, chairs and parasol, a stone BBQ and outdoor candle lights. The lawn is shaded by bay, pine and mock orange trees.
Through a stone archway , another terrace shaded by wisteria, overlooking the lilly pond is furnished with wrought iron table and chairs, and a bench seat.
The guests have sole use of the heated swimming pool which is accessed via monumental gates, and is alarmed for the safety of little ones. It is shared with the other cottage (which also sleeps a maximum of 6 guests)
You are welcome to help yourself to the apples, pears, plums, damsons, cherries and figs which grow in the organic orchard, as well as the herbs you will find growing in the gardens....
.......and there is a large grassed area ideal for ball games. Badminton, swing ball, and boules are available on site.
Cycle hire can be organised with a local firm, who will deliver to your cottage and you have free use of the tennis courts in the commune - so just bring our own racquets
We also offer all our guests the experience of a complimentary trip through the vineyards in our 4 seater Morgan classic sports cars
If you wish, you can request a 3 or 4 course dinner with wine, delivered to your cottage on your first night. So you can pop the little ones to bed, light the candles and sit back and relax
