Welcome to the Beer Shrine Cabin! Your family will have a truly memorable experience while staying in this Mt. Baker country cottage. Conveniently located along the Mt. Baker Highway within close walking distance to both The North Fork (an award winning microbrewery and restaurant), the 3C Farm (wedding venue), and a great trailhead system, this 1-story, 2-bedroom, 1 ½-bath cottage has just about everything that you could ever want. The living room features comfy furnishings with a hide-a-bed, along with a flat screen monitor that includes cable TV service, a dining area with a full size table and four chairs, a full kitchen with custom hand crafted countertops, (use the cutting boards please!) and plenty of cabinet space for storing your goodies. A French door refrigerator, a smooth top range/oven, and a microwave oven round out the kitchen package. Just down the hallway, you'll discover one bedroom with 1-queen sized bed, another (slightly larger) bedroom with 1-queen sized bed, a full bath, and a combination laundry room/restroom with a full sized stack washer/dryer and a ½-bath. Too warm during your stay? No problem…this cottage features a ductless heat and air conditioning system. Too cold? …no problem there either, as a freestanding wood fireplace (firewood provided) compliments the ductless system. Step outside from either of two rear entrances to reach a very nice, partially covered deck. The deck then leads down to a fully fenced backyard…perfect for Fido and Fidette! Carport parking for up to two vehicles adds to the overall convenience. This wifi equipped, air conditioned, and pet-friendly (2-PET MAXIMUM, No Exceptions), monitored family vacation property will sleep up to 4 to 6-persons (ENFORCED Maximum Occupancy!).
PLEASE NOTE: WiFi service is now available to our area, and provided FREE OF CHARGE for Guest use. Having said this, the service is currently subject to failure, as the service provider is in the process of dialing everything in. Intermittent service failures are a circumstance that is beyond our control, and no sleeping accommodation refunds are provided if the FREE WiFi SERVICE fails to function properly.
The Mount Baker Recreation Area is a year-round playground! SUMMER Guests enjoy great hiking, mountain biking, mountain climbing, rock climbing, backpacking, freshwater fishing (lake and river), small game hunting, whitewater rafting, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, nature viewing, tennis, and golf. WINTER Guests enjoy spectacular downhill and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, and sledding. Don't forget your camera...the photography is unsurpassed year-round!

Résumé: This spotlessly clean, cozy small home was perfect for two couples (including some seniors with minor mobility challenges) and our medium sized dog for a few nights this summer. It is well appointed, with comfortable beds and furniture that is new, clean and not overly fancy, so it is actually relaxing and inviting to hang out. The back deck has a great table for dining, and the back yard has a few spots for relaxing. The main bathroom is clean and well set up. There is a toilet and sink in the laundry area/second bathroom that is perfectly clean and serviceable, but a little tight. One caveat: the house sits very near the main road and also at the intersection of a second road that was very busy during our visit. Car noise is pretty constant and noticeable, even at the fire pit at the furthest point from the house. We did not have time to spend much time in the backyard, as we were mainly visiting family nearby, so this did not impact our visit at all, but should be noted. The noise is not noticeable from inside and did not impact our sleep at all. We did have some problems with the water system during our stay: the water simply stopped working a few times (once during a shower!). It often kicked back on after a few minutes, but one time it just stopped. However, we were able to contact the great management team at Mt. Baker Lodging and they promptly sent a note to the homeowners, who were able to fix it pronto. (So that problem is probably solved for good.) One other thing to note is that there is truly no cell service at this particular spot. And while we had wifi, our water problem happened during the weekend, when the property management emails are not monitored. So we could not report the problem until we left the house and drove into cell servivce coverage. Again, not a real problem for us, but something to be aware of. We only had a few evenings and mornings in the house, and were sorry to miss the chance to check out the pizza (and beer) at the Northfork Brewery, which we hear is excellent. All in all, we were very happy with our stay and gladly recommend this small house as a home base for hiking and visiting/exploring the Mt. Baker/Lynden/No. Bellingham area.
