The village Old Marine is located in a privileged location, only 500 meters from the center of Palau and the services it offers, just 20 minutes from 'island ferry to La Maddalena and its beautiful Marine Park and just 30 minutes drive from the lively "Costa Smeralda ". The beach is only 150 meters, is surrounded by a thick pine forest that overlooks the wonderful islands of Santo Stefano and La Maddalena, an ideal place for picnics and long walks.
Palau is one of Sardinia’s famous tourist destinations, in front of the extraordinary Archipelago of the Maddalena, and part of Costa Smeralda (“sardinia’s Emerald Coast”). The touristic development which gives the hospitable city its contemporary character has not blemished its natural heritage: crystal clear emerald waters, the smells and the colors of the lush Mediterranean vegetation with aromatic juniper and myrtle forests, 20 beaches of fine white sand and the sheer beauty of its coasts, sculpted by nature and extending over 24 km, from the Gulf of Saline up to the mouth of the Liscia River and on to the enchanting views of the granite coastline, molded by the wind and by the ages.
One of the most celebrated “works of art” created by the wind is “bear Rock” which, for its extraordinary beauty, in 1993 was declared National Monument. 120 meters above sea level, it offers an extraordinary view of Palau and of the neighboring Archipelago of La Maddalena, made up of twenty-three islands and islets and protected by strict preservation regulations that make it one of the only natural habitats still intact in the Mediterranean. Recently established is the new Parco Marino.
Just a short walk separates the apartment from the Port and Marina, one of the most beautiful of Sardinia and port of departure for the ferry to La Maddalena and the several boats which will navigate the Archipelago island to island, hopping from one shelter to the next, anchoring in one of the numerous coves to take a swim.
