This is your chance to stay in part of a historic 1885 Ontario flour mill that is being progressively restored for accommodations and retreats inspired by the local history and ecology. The mill loft is 1,400 ft2 with a big open kitchen, dining area, living room, two bedrooms and washroom on the main floor with a loft bedroom & ensuite washroom above. The mill is surrounded by 30 acres of paradise including the local geese, ducks, herons and other animals along the Teeswater River. Enjoy the hiking trails, fire pit, and forest bathe under the black walnut trees. The mill loft and property are pet friendly, so bring your furry friend as they will love the mill as much as you will.
The town of Paisley is a 10 minute walk along the river with great shops and restaurants including Bonfire, Paisley Common, and Rak Thai and the best ice cream at Tomboi. Paisley is a great place for paddlers, you can bring your own or coordinate a trip with the local outfitter Thorncrest. There is great hiking in the area, in particular MacGregor Provincial Park 20 minutes west along Lake Huron or the Brant Tract 10 minutes south.
Further afield, both Port Elgin and Southampton are just over 20 minutes away and are great vacation towns to visit with beaches that have some of the best sunsets in Ontario. Within a 45 minute drive is Sauble Beach, Owen Sound, and Wiarton/ the Bruce Peninsula.
Note that the mill is 130 years old and the loft space is our part time home. The main part of the mill is rented to guests as well as a 5 bedroom retreat. There is also a yurt on the other side of the road that hosts guests. The ground floor can also be rented for daytime use/ small events. While we aim to keep the loft space as tidy as possible for guests, it is a work in progress. Please be courteous of other guests and stay on the trails to protect the unique natural features of the property.
