This unique cottage boasts of 200 feet of secluded creek-frontage on Spanish Creek, and two plus acres of your own private estate. The cottage is tucked off the main road (Hwy.70) in a park-like setting of lawn and beautiful landscaping - offering visitors privacy and seclusion not found in many properties. This is a true get-away!
Just minutes from the town of Quincy, this home is off the beaten path, yet as close to civilization as you want or need to be. Quincy is the county seat for Plumas County, and has a small-town charm all its own. It offers a movie theatre, bowling alley, two grocery stores, as well as a wonderful natural healthfood store.
Quincy is a railroad town and the train runs up this beautiful river canyon on its way through the Sierra Nevada Range. In fact, many of our visitors stay just for the trains, and those who didn't know about them leave entranced. We love the trains, it's like having your own giant train set in the backyard! The trestle is legendary - on the highway you will see train buffs waiting to catch a glimpse of a train crossing the Keddie Wye trestle. You can enjoy a piece of this history right from your yard. Spring and fall offer excellent trout fishing in front of the property; and can be a fly fisherman's paradise at times. Just minutes from the town of Quincy, the home is private, yet as close to stores and local events. Summer offers warm, sunny weather with unlimited recreation, creeks and lakes for swimming, plus the High Sierra Music Festival and a County Fair.
Check out Gansner Park on the left as you head into town; or visit the best swimming hole and rope swing in Plumas County. Its great for kids - big and small. This get-away cottage is centrally located in Plumas County. It is within a 30 minute drive of Antelope and Bucks Lake, and is only 45 minutes from Lake Almanor. All three offer water-skiing, fishing, and camping.
Quincy and the surrounding area are a perfect location for bicyclist of all levels. For beginners or family cruising, Chandler road (five minute drive from cottage) offers a flat loop around the North side of Quincy - with several swimming holes on Spanish Creek to cool off in during your ride. This flat and very scenic tour is on a true country road and is a great ride for the whole family!
For the more experienced rider, the Quincy LaPorte is a 60 mile out and back - with a major summit climb. Greenville and Taylorsville also offer some of the finest cycling in the Sierras, and are within a 15-minute drive of the cottage. Both of these rides are absolutely beautiful and free any hectic traffic.
For White water enthusiasts, the North Fork of the Feather River has scheduled Summer releases which provide for good summer water levels for kayakers and rafters alike. Spanish Creek also offers seasonal flows in the Spring,and is a great tube run to break the summer heat.
You can enjoy day trips to Truckee or Reno, which are within a 90 minute drive, or you can visit nearby Graeagle or Portola which offer golf, shopping and a train museum. If all this isn't enough, Lassen National Park is just a two-hour drive away, and features bubbling sulphur pots and is one of North America's last active volcanoes.
