The Space:
The Orchard Block is located at the base of Mt.Tarrengower, near the town of Maldon, where you can rest and enjoy comfortable accommodation with easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities.
The bathroom follows ecologically sustainable principles, including a waterless eco-friendly compost toilet, hand basin, and shower (gas heated for hot showers). It focuses on satisfying people's needs with natural resources and processes to save water through using eco-friendly toilets to save the environment.

Guests will have access to the tiny house and its surrounding areas, including the horse yards, walking, mountain biking, and horse riding trails.
The Neighborhood:
The Orchard Block sits near a town in Maldon, which is known as Australia's first notable town. It is a gold rush town and still maintains its strong heritage. The town has two pubs, many cafes for all tastes, a bank, a supermarket, homeware shops, dress shops, and galleries.
On top of that, the tiny house is situated close to Castlemaine and Bendigo (i.e., which is also known as one of Victoria's major regional cities). Bendigo has all the trimmings of a small city including fantastic art galleries, exciting attractions, and events - from the traditional hill climb car race to the oldest running Easter Parade to wineries, walks, drives and eateries.
Have a look at Explore Bendigo's facebook page and Experience Maldon's page. They have some great things to visit, see and do. I can highly recommend a trip to Bendigo - the art gallery is amazing and often has wonderful exhibitions.
And if you are looking for a great coffee and croissant try Maldon's very own French cafe - it is open Wednesday to Sunday. The coffee is really good!
Getting Around:
By car:
- Drive to and from Melbourne on the Calder Highway (90 mins). Access to the tiny home and all towns around us is via sealed roads. Googles maps can take you anywhere.
By public transport:
- You can get a train from Melbourne to Castlemaine. There are limited bus services from Castlemaine to
Maldon. We could help with a pick up with prior arrangement.
Other Things to Note:
- No wifi
- Mobile reception is good for Telstra and weak for Optus.
- No smoking allowed on the property
- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed
- Breakfast comes at an extra cost of $20 per person
- Pets are not allowed on beds and sofas, and clean after your pet’s droppings
- Please clean up after your pet’s shedding before checking out in courtesy of other guests
- Please note that this is a PET-FRIENDLY property, and pet policies will be sent prior to arrival
- Pets are recommended to be kept on leash as livestock is present on the property and no fenced area for dogs

- Guests are advised to bring portable power banks in case of low power
- Guests are also advised to save energy to avoid running out of electricity
- We have limited power to operate the aircon as we are a solar-powered unit
- Remember to charge your phone and electronics in advance in case of low-light days
- We'd like to remind guests to conserve and use minimal consumption of electricity to prevent power outages
Important note:
- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present on the property
- Keep in mind that BBQ grills and outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge
- In order to maintain the cleanliness and functionality of our compost toilets a minimum additional cleaning fee is applied for stays of 5 nights or more. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring a hygienic experience during your stay
