The Shackteau | Cottage dans North East Margaree

A cabin right out of “Deliverance.” Inside a clean cozy retreat from the world. A fully equipped kitchen, (with more than just salt, pepper and sugar); a queen bed, large bathroom, propane barbecue, fast wi-fi, blue tooth speaker and a mesmerizing view of the Margaree “mountains” and the Margaree River. A consideration for some might be that presence of our new house on the property which partially obstructs the view. There is slight slant to the kitchen floor that many guests consider quaint, but if you're unsteady it might be a consideration. There's a Co-op Grocery/liquor store just one minute away.
I believe my happiest guests are those who are familiar with the camping lifestyle but are now seeking something more comfortable. The Shackteau offers everything you need.

The bathroom is spacious with a full tub/shower, vanity and toilet.
There is a comfortable queen size bed.
Everything about the cabin is designed to be easy to clean and maintain.
If you're looking for privacy, a serene view and proximity to everything that western Cape Breton offers, I don't think you can do better than a stay at the Shackteau.
The wifi is the best available in rural Nova Scotia. (you can stream video or FaceTime/Zoom without difficulty). Fibre is due to be installed in 2023.
The only concern I share with guests is the limited capacity of the old septic system. For that reason I ask guests to be aware of how much they send down the pipes and take a few measures to reduce the flow. It's not a burden, just a concern, like in many older country buildings.
