A hidden garden oasis just off the most famous street in the centre of Munich. Perfect for a family visiting town for the Adele concerts in August.
Our 2-story, 3 bedroom apartment occupies the bottom of a renovated 100-year-old building. It features large rooms with high ceilings, antique wood and tile floors, a modern kitchen, comfortable beds in cool quiet rooms (as with most of Germany, no air conditioning.)
We are not professional renters. This is our home. You will not feel like tourists staying here but locals living in a cosmopolitan area of this beautiful city we love.
Eat every meal outside as Europeans do – on our porch overlooking the garden, or down in the garden 5 steps away. We have a gas grill, a cascading rock fountain, hammock, and kids playhouse. Or just a few more steps out the gate onto the beautiful tree lined main street, you can choose from dozens of café’s and restaurants lining the sidewalks with outdoor dining.
Explore the neighbourhood of lovely old homes, boutique shopping, everything from churches to buzzing university student hangouts.

There are tons of restaurants, great bakeries with German bread, croissants, pastries, running sushi, Mexican, Thai, Greek, Turkish, authentic Italian, burgers, ice cream and of course Bavarian. (Can you tell I like food?) Supermarkets (also bio and Asian), banks, bars/clubs (even for teens), parks, playgrounds, world famous Biergartens (which have playgrounds), hairdressers/nail salons, boutique and department stores, you name it.
Transportation in Munich is safe and clean. The subway and trams are just 1 block away (bus stops also). The old city centre is 2 subway stops (Odeonplatz to Marienplatz) with its famous Viktualianmark outdoor market, the main shopping zone, cathedrals, towers to climb, Rathaus, the king’s palace, high-end window shopping… And one stop in the other direction are immaculate city pools (3 adult, 2 children, grassy areas, changing houses, food). A few more stops you can be anywhere in this world-class cultural city with dozens of museums, opera/ballet/symphony to all night clubbing.
City bike and scooter rentals are everywhere. Every street has marked bike paths. (Be careful not to walk in them or you will hear a warning bell from an approaching rider!)
And the world-famous Englishergarten is close enough for a morning jog. It is one of the largest city parks in the world, even larger than Central Park in NY, but safe to walk or jog even at night. With streams and the Isar river for bathing, a lake for paddle boating, famous Biergartens with playgrounds, bike paths, forests and meadows, it feels like you drove 1 hour south of the city. You can get lost without GPS!
In 1 hour by train or car rental, you are in the glorious Alps. Day trips possible to dozens of lakes, Salzburg, mountain hiking, Neuschwanstein castle, etc.
But back to our place. We hope you don’t mind personal items left behind while we are out of town. A closet in each room will be emptied and the shelves in the bathrooms. Our mostly outdoor cat might come through the cat flap on occasion. The place will be spotless on arrival, and we have a small fee for cleaning after you leave.
