Villa Mugnana is located just 12 miles from the center of Florence, and from the moment you pass through the iron gates you will feel as though you have entered another world as time stands still. Nestled in the verdant hills of pristine Chianti landscape lies Villa Mugnana, a 16th Century Casa Colonica.
Many centuries ago, it was a farmhouse and guard tower for the nearby Castello Mugnana. Magnificently restored, the owners paid exquisite attention to every detail. There are 3 separate terraces with tables and seating, each with a more gorgeous view than the next. The BOSE Entertainment system provides music to the pool and patio areas.
The tumbled marble saltwater pool (5x12 meters, depth 2.4 meters) and has an electric cover. The pool area has lots of lounge chairs for reading or sunbathing and there are vistas that overlook two nearby castles. There is an organic garden for the use of our guests adjacent to the wood fired pizza oven and barbeque where you can dine alfresco under the beautiful vine covered pergola.
There are miles and miles of hiking trails right outside the door and a Roman road which dates back over 2000 years. You can find waterfalls and a swimming hole within a 15 minute hike from the house.
Internal Description
Villa Mugnana is made up of the main house and a guest house on 10 acres of land. The entire property can accommodate up to 10 people. There are 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. All bedrooms have air conditioning. All windows are equipped with mosquito nets and there are 5 portable fans. Internet Wifi is included. Pets are allowed on request (there is a refundable security deposit).
Main building: The villa is furnished with 18th century Country French antiques, chandelier lit throughout, and adorned with European fabrics and accessories. This property will at once take your breath away and make you feel enveloped by warmth.
The villa has three floors. On the ground floor there is a large kitchen which has hand hewn French cabinetry and is equipped with everything for the most discerning of gourmet cooks including an oven, stove, microwave, toaster, fridge, dishwasher, and dining table for 8 people. Following is a spacious dining/living room with seating for 10 people, and a family room with tv, a massive stone fireplace that can be used for cooking, sofa and chairs, and chess/games table. Both the dining room and family room have a BOSE entertainment system. A half bathroom completes the floor.
The 1st floor houses the sleeping area divided as follows: a master bedroom (with King size bed, fireplace, and ensuite marble bathroom with two sinks, soaking tub, bidet and a two-person steam shower); a double bedroom (with Queen size bed, and ensuite bathroom with two sinks, bidet and shower). There is also a sitting room.
In the tower, on the 2nd floor, you will find a twin bedroom with two single beds (which can be combined into a Queen size bed) and ensuite bathroom with shower and bidet.
Guest house: A few meters away from the main building is the guest house, set on two levels. On the upper level there is an equipped kitchen, a marble bathroom with shower and bidet, and a double bedroom (with Queen size bed). On the lower level you will find a bedroom with two single sofa beds.
Prices and conditions
Included in the price: Final cleaning; utilities (water, gas, electricity); Internet Wifi; house, garden and pool maintenance.
Excluded from the price: Pets are allowed on request and there is a refundable security deposit of 1,000.00€ per pet; any extra services on request. Tourist tax if required (the amount usually varies, depending on location, from 0.50€ to 4.00€ per person per night for a maximum of seven nights, excluding minors, and will be paid upon arrival).
Security deposit: Customers are required to pay 1,500.00€ security deposit upon arrival (cash), which will be returned at the end of the stay upon any damages.
