Résumé: There are two fantastic aspects of this rental—Blanca and the view. Blanca is the caretaker and she is wonderful and welcoming. She helped carry in suitcases even though I said it wasn’t necessary. She was forced to accept a tip and she was eager to help with any issue we faced. The view from the living room and the main bedroom is amazing as well. She solved problems of the property and was also available. Also, the owner is very nice. Sadly, despite the above, I cannot recommend this place. First of all, it sits on a very busy and unsightly road. This villa (building) is truly ugly as are all the soviet style surrounding buildings. The walk into Como is harrowing, grisly and unavoidable. The traffic goes all night and if you sleep in the 2nd bedroom you hear the noise of the cars all night. Furthermore the rental is so tired and dated. The furniture in the living is room is nice-ish. The bedrooms are truly horrible. The beds are really just cots with cheap mattresses, pillows and linens. The bedrooms and bathrooms are in dire need of an update in order to be appealing. Stale is how I would describe the property. THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING! I can’t imagine being here in late June-mid September. They do the best they can with fans but it still feels too hot here and it’s not refreshing after walking up the hill to get here and be greeted by a hot house. The kitchen is poorly equipped. There is no microwave, no regular coffee maker, no toaster and no ice (not even ice trays). We couldn’t make the oven work. Also there are no clothes washer and dryer. Finally, the value is out of whack. Let me put this into perspective. Here you pay EUR 700 for a poorly located outdated house. We arrived here from the Amalfi Coast where we stayed in a gorgeous freshly painted and furnished villa with two modern kitchens, two sets of new washers/dryers, every imaginable kitchen accessory, multiple tvs with international channels, Netflix, etc, stunning views of the Sea and an adorable neighborhood. We paid EUR 500 per night. For value comparison this place should go for EUR 50 per night.
