Year round cottage on 1 acre treed lot with 186 feet of private waterfront on pristine Horn Lake, known as the cleanest lake in Ontario and cliff jumping.
2,700 square feet of living space, with a great room, second living room, Muskoka room, 5 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.
Main features include Central Air conditioning, laundry, Wi-Fi, fully stocked kitchen, potable water, dishwasher, BBQ, 3 fireplaces, firepit, dock, kayaks, a canoe and paddle boat.
Located at the end of a quiet road, on a point, the cottage has an open floor plan upstairs with lots of modern amenities, including WiFi, laundry, central air-conditioning and a dishwasher.
There are views of the lake from almost every room and access to the upper and lower decks through 6 patio doors which all have screens for a nice breeze. In addition, there is a 3 season Muskoka room to enjoy the outdoors, just off the kitchen/dining area. A small, gentle slope from the cottage to the lake has only 7 steps and there is also easy access from the driveway to the front door. A convenient boat launch is only a few minutes from the cottage.
For indoor time, there are 3 TVs with DVD players, VHS and an Xbox, as well as board games, books and over 250 movies.
Tea towels, pillows, quilts, cozy blankets and some bath towels are provided and there are bed sheets you can use, or feel free to bring your own.
Our water source is the lake and we have a filtration system so you are able to drink and cook with the water.
A minimum of 7 nights is required during the high season (Jul - Aug 31) but please contact us for less outside of this season.
During the high season, check in is Friday at 4:00PM and check out is Friday at 10:00 AM. This enables us to properly clean the cottage in accordance with the COVID-19 safety practices.
We do welcome pets and provide a list of rules in the house manual, such as picking up after the pet. There is an additional fee of $200/pet/week for weekly rentals and $100/pet for shorter stays. Maximum of 2 pets per stay.
Cooking with strong odours is not permitted because the lingering smells can be difficult to remove for the next guest. There is a BBQ on the upper deck off the kitchen and encourage outdoor cooking while at the cottage.
We provide all the cooking essentials – pots, pans, silverware, dishes (including plastic for children), bowls, corningware, utensils, drip coffee maker, kettle, teapot, toaster, hand blender, Bullet, crockpot, baking sheets, muffin pans, basic spices, dish and dishwasher soap, dish clothes and tea towels.
At the end of your stay, you may leave one bag of garbage and one bag of recycling. If you have more than that, you will need to take it with you, or during your stay you can make a trip to the local dump (tags provided). Additional fees ($20 a bag) may be incurred after your stay if you leave more than the above mentioned limit.
There is a fire pit with seating provided for your enjoyment, near the lake. There is some fire wood, but if you plan on having more than a couple fires, we ask you to purchase your own wood. There are fire ratings posted which may include a fire ban. Before you have a fire, it is very important to check the rating to avoid visits from the fire department and fines.
Please note that our dock is not available for use from mid-October to mid May due to the lake freezing. These dates are subject to change depending on water level, temperature and weather.
There are watercraft for your enjoyment and some life jackets provided. As per agreement to rent our property, personal safety when using the canoe, kayaks, paddle board or paddle boat is your own responsibility and we assume no liability in case of accidents or injury.
As per Magnetawan by-laws, quiet hours are between 10pm and 8am. Please respect this so that we can continue to offer our cottage as a VRBO property without issues.
The maximum number of guests staying at the cottage is limited to 11 persons (including children). Day visitors are only permitted with cottage owner's approval. Additional guests camping on the lawn at any time during your stay is not permitted. If it is found that you have more than 11 guests staying at the cottage, you will be charged $100 per person per night, or if the number of guests is excessive and determined to be unsafe, you may have your booking canceled and be asked to leave.
