Fernglen Forest Retreat is set on 7 acres of lush green native bush with a lovely river, tree ferns and towering mountain ash. Winding down the driveway you’re transported into an idyllic forest paradise. If you’re wanting peace and quiet this retreat is for you.
Fernglen Forest Retreat is located only 2 blocks from Tatra wedding receptions. It’s also within a short drive to other wedding venues such as SkyHigh, Poets Lane, Lyrebird Falls, Nathania Springs, and Mist to name a few.
This makes our accommodation perfect for wedding groups, as well as families and couples.
We have altogether 3 private cottages to choose from. See our other listings for Jacuzzi Lodge and Brook Cottage. We are sure to have one to suit your needs and to suit larger groups of up to 12 people.
Many brides take advantage of the stunning native grounds, with towering mountain ash as a backdrop for their photos. Should you be interested in hiring the grounds for a wedding or other function please contact us to obtain a quote.
All cottages have free wifi available, and all have open fires with an unlimited wood supply
Jacuzzi Lodge - self-contained. One king sized bedroom and second bedroom with bunk bed. Comes with luxury 8 seater outdoor spa and BBQ.
Brook Cottage - fully self-contained. One king sized bedroom plus a second bedroom with bunk beds.
Spa Cottage - self contained. Queen size bedroom, pull out sofa bed in lounge. Includes corner spa and outdoor BBQ. (Temporarily Closed )
All cottages have their own kitchen, dining, lounge, bathrooms and cosy fireplace, parking and tranquil forest views from every window.
The cottages are located in a idyllic, private and serene forest environment with it's own river and fully immersed within ferns and towering mountain ash.
The Mt Dandenong and Olinda shops are only 2 kilometres away.

EVENTS
We are happy to host outdoor events including wedding dinners or lunches, parties etc. Outdoor furniture is not provided and must be hired at guest expense. To use the property/grounds for groups up to 20 we charge a grounds hire fee of $500 a day (8 hours). To use the property/grounds for groups up to 50 (maximum number) we charge a grounds hire fee of $700 a day (8 hours). If you’d like to make a group booking please contact your host.
Prior to your arrival, we will email you a House Manual with clear check in and other instructions. In the meantime, please read on:
SMOKING POLICY
Smoking inside the house is strictly prohibited
We reserve the right to access your security bond if the house is contaminated by you smoking inside. Please under no circumstances throw cigarette
buts in the garden or bush. Ashtrays will be provided outside.
PET POLICY
Pets are allowed at the property subject to our rules being followed and pet fees paid. Please note that we reserve the right to charge your security bond if you haven't included your pet in the booking.
The Fernglen Forest Retreat pet policy will be emailed to you after your
booking is confirmed. Please ensure you read the pet policy carefully before your stay if you intend to bring pets. Please bring pets bedding as
under no circumstances are pets allowed on furniture and beds.
Please be aware that Fernglen Forest Retreat is a sensitive wildlife area, therefore pets are to be restrained on leash at all times when outdoors to protect the environment.
NOISE AND COURTESY TO NEIGHBOURS
Please ensure quiet after 10pm in consideration of other guests and neighbours. Should a complaint be received, please make sure you cease any activity causing the disturbance. Accommodation is for the use of the guests nominated in the booking only. Parties or gatherings are permitted in the dwelling only by prearrangement or if booked as such.
PARKING
Parking for two cars is available outside your cottage or lodge. To park additional vehicles please make arrangements with management.
FIREWOOD
Firewood and kindling will be provided on the balcony - you may also collect fallen kindling or firewood from the property or forest surrounding the property.
HEATING & COOLING
Please use the heating as necessary while in the house. Please do not leave the heating on while not in the house. Excessive use will lead to very high costs which may be charged to the guest via the security bond. Fans are provided, however as Mount Dandenong is generally about 5 degrees cooler than the other parts of Melbourne and as The Fernglen Forest Retreat is located in a gully with a creek running through the property, provided a further cooling effect, the property rarely gets too warm, even in the summer.
LOCKING AND KEEPING THE PROPERTY SAFE
While staying at the property, please ensure that the property is adequately always protected against theft and intrusion.
CLEANING
A standard bed and breakfast clean is provided in your price. Any excessive cleaning caused by guests will be charged to the guest via the security bond, as necessary to reinstate the home to its prior condition (e.g. leaving unwashed dishes, leaving rubbish, etc). Guests are to wash their own dishes. Some of the cottages are fitted with dishwashers.
CHECKING IN AND CHECK OUT
Check in time is from 3 pm onwards unless another time has been prearranged. Check out time is until 10 am unless another time has been prearranged. On the day of your check out please use the following checklist:
-Carry out cleaning as necessary to leave the house in a reasonably clean condition. See cleaning section for assistance.
-Turn off all lights, heating and the television
