Enjoying a brook-side setting, Kingfishers is in the village of Felindre, within easy reach of the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons, as well as being just 5 miles from the literary town of Hay-on-Wye, which is famous for books, quaint coffee shops and boutiques, not to mention the famous Hay-on-Wye festival each year. During the festival there is a shuttle bus that stops in the village, giving great access for festival visitors. There are two stops in the village, and both are a very short walk from the cottage. A pub can also be found a 5-minute walk away. 11 miles from the historic town of Brecon with its abundance of history – the regimental museum is a must see, there are art galleries and plenty of options for great food.
For those wanting to venture around the fabulous countryside then a climb to the top of Pen Y Fan will not disappoint - you can see for miles across the beautiful Welsh countryside. The cottage is set within the Brecon Beacons National Park which is a designated Dark Sky area, perfect for star gazing. There are many walks from the doorstep and hundreds more in the area. Other outdoor activities nearby include canoeing, paddle boarding, mountain biking, horse riding and many more. Kingfishers is also ideally placed for those attending the Royal Welsh Showground which has plenty of shows and attractions throughout the year – Builth Wells is 16 miles from the property.
This semi-detached property is full of charm and features throughout. To the ground floor you have a living room, bathroom with shower over bath and heated towel rail. To the first floor is a galleried landing with a chair and two bedrooms, one double with beams and exposed stone walls and a twin room, again with features and character. To the lower ground floor is the snug area - perfect for those wanting to read a good book. There is also a kitchen/dining area with small pine table and chairs, stone fireplace, dishwasher, washing machine, electric cooker and fridge/freezer. From here, two stone open doorways lead into a large living/dining garden room room; one end of the room has a dining table and seating for six by a full-height window looking onto the garden, whilst the other end of this room has the wood burner, Smart TV and two sofas. Outside, you have a garden with patio area with swing seat and fire pit – perfect for listening to the brook as it flows by the property – access to paddle in the brook via a gate in the garden, there is also a lawned area – ideal for letting your four legged friends out!

This cottage is semi detached and has a flying freehold with its neighbour meaning that you may hear each other moving about at times.
Please be considerate of your neighbours .
If you are staying with your dog/dogs please do not leave them in the house alone when you go out . Any damage caused during your stay by pets will be chargeable . Please don't let your pets cause excessive noise for long periods due to proximity to neighbours .
Access restrictions: 2 stone steps up to the front door. The property has low ceilings, uneven floors, low doorways and low beams in keeping with the age and character of this cottage. Tall people will need to watch they don't bang their heads on certain doorways/low beams. Please be prepared to duck at times.
There are steep narrow stairs to the lower ground and upper floor, a stone step to access the bathroom , a small step down into the kitchen and a step down into the garden via the french doors. The downstairs toilet operates via a macerator system. Please ensure that nothing at all but tissue & what happens naturally is put in this toilet. It is expensive to unblock if anything else is put down this downstairs toilet and it will be charged if a plumber is called to remove incompatible items from the system.
The upstairs bathroom toilet is mains drainage and operates normally .
Please be careful not to leave any children unattended in the garden with access to the brook.
Sadly as of 9th October 2022 the village pub will be closed. They are actively looking for another buyer to take it over. But until that happens it will remain closed.
