Herakles House 10 minutes to Nafplio, fully fenced, large garden | Maison dans Nea Tiryntha

Welcome to Herakles House! I wish you to feel relaxed and at ease here in our recently renovated home. The house is on a large plot of 1.000 sqm and is fully fenced. The interior area is very spacious. 140 sqm.
3 bedrooms sleeping 6 adults, with large wardrobe space, 1 bathroom with shower, living room, dining area + kitchen & desk area for working remotely.
An extra single fold-up bed is available to accommodate a 7th person without charge. A baby cot is available free of charge.
WiFi, 2 powerful and new air conditioning units, gas heating with radiators in all rooms, log burner in the living room (jackie), shutters for all windows, mosquito nets.
Washing machine, iron & ironing board, gas cooker with oven, microwave. A large and very nicely equipped kitchen (everything is new, as the kitchen was rebuilt from scratch in 2023). Outdoor gas bbq (we call it "the beast").
The terrace is almost as big as the house... And the best thing about it is the hard roof because you can linger in the shade during hot days and in the shelter even on rainy days (which we don't get many). You can also get your laptop there and work in open air with a garden view.
The plot is fully fenced. I share my life with 2 little furry friends + a not as furry husband. I wouldn't want them to escape when we come in Nafplion, but they are free to roam around as much as they want to :) I am not living there, just visiting from time to time, so the guests are enjoying the full property for themselves.
The plot is very large and a great place for the pets wanting to run around safely. About half of it is an olive grove with 22 olive trees. We are still hoping we will learn how to care for the olive trees so that we can make some olive oil of our own.
2 orange trees, 1 lemon tree and a walnut that give us fruit. The walnut is especially handy, as it creates shade for the picnic area.
The house is in a quiet village, on the last street, so there is very little traffic (only a few locals, coming and going). Our closest neighbours are 3 orange groves and a few surrounding houses separated by the local street.
Nea Tiryntha is the name of the village and it starts where the Ancient Tirynth site ends. You're just a couple of minutes drive away from the first ancient site. Inhabited from the Bronze Age and completed in its final form in 13th century BC, Tirynth is mentioned in Homer's writings as being built by the mythical Cyclops. Just wait and see how massive the stone walls are.
The center of the village (1 minute drive or 5 minutes walk) offers the typical Greek kafenion, a grill taverna, a bakery, a pharmacy and 2 mini markets.
For buying the most delicious and fresh produce visit the street market in Nafplion (10 min drive). It has numerous vendors with a large variety of local products. It happens twice per week (Wednesdays & Saturdays). From early morning until noon.
The fishermen are selling their daily catch at Nea Kios port (10 min drive). If you go there around 9-10 in the morning you will find a few old fisherman selling what got caught in their nets during the night.
When I saw the location of the house I immediately knew it is the right place for us. I believe it is very conveniently located in between everything that matters in the area: Nafplio, all the ancient sites around, and the beaches.
All the following times are driving times.
The chic town of Nafplio is 6 km away (10 min). Palamidi Fortress & Bourtzi Castle in Nafplio are the closest sites to home, after Tirynth.
Other ancient sites that people are interested in the area are: Epidavros Ancient Theatre and magnificent historic site (25 min), the Archaeological site of Mycenae (20 min), Ancient Nemea (30 min), Ancient Corinth (40 min).
Beach-goers, this is for you (all these beaches are mostly sandy):
- Paralia Arvanitias Nafplion (13 min)
- A long strip of narrow beach North East of Nafplion (10 min)
- Paralia Karathonas (15 min) - free unlimited parking spaces, organised beach with beach bars & water sports and a children inflatable water fun area
- Tolo Beach (13 min) - narrow and long beach, with lots of beach bars and places to eat (the most touristic beach around)
- Paralia Plaka (15 min) - with several beach bars - try Aloha Beach Bar it has a nice atmosphere and design
- Vivari Beach (17 min) - enclosed gulf beach area with a few fish & sea food tavernas (worth a visit daytime for the beach and even in the evening for dinner)
- Kondyli Beach (23 min) - large beach, protected gulf, lots of free parking space, 3 beach bars & a tiny selection of water sports
Having a car or other transportation means is strongly advised as it is the best way to enjoy the whole area and visit all the ancient sites around.
