From Hirtshals(DK) to Kristiansand or Stavanger(N). We are happy to help you choose the cheapest ferries ( or ) and book them reliably on request. Hidra is an island near Flekkefjord halfway between Stavanger and Kristiansand. The distance to these cities is approx. 125 kilometers (journey time approx. 2 hours). The long-distance buses go directly to Flekkefjord from Kristiansand or Stavanger. There is another bus connection from Flekkefjord to the vicinity of your vacation home (the driver will stop on request). The car ferry runs every hour from the mainland to the island, from 06.35 - 23.35 h, on weekends until 01:30 or 02:30 h. Departure from the island to the mainland is at "five to half past half". The ferry does not cross to the mainland before 06:25 in the morning. Plan your journey home with the afternoon ferries from Kristiansand or Stavanger, as you will not be able to catch the 8 a.m. ferry to Denmark on time due to traffic! After leaving the ferry/customs, follow the signs to Stavanger/Flekkefjord (E 39). On the E 39 near Lyngdal, you will pass through a toll booth. The same applies on the way back and when entering Kristiansand. Please log on to and register your vehicle there. Leave the "E39" at the Flekkefjord exit and drive straight on through the traffic circle towards the town center. From where you are staying in the Flekkefjord and Abelnes region, you have excellent opportunities for sea trout and sea fishing, depending on the tides and the time of year.
The sea fish in this region are very species-rich. Especially for anglers, diving groups and fishing enthusiastic families with children, the quiet fjord location of the region offers many advantages, from where you can reach the best fishing areas. With our good boat you can easily reach the most famous fishing grounds in southern Norway.
These include the Flekkefjord, the bubble bay at Fjellsa (only 10-15 minutes away), the Vollesfjord and Strandsfjord at Andabelöy, Eidsfjorden, Stolsfjorden, Hidrasund and Fedafjord.
The wreck of the Gudrun, which sank off the harbor in Abelnes during World War II, is a popular attraction for divers from all over the world in spring, summer and autumn. On the shores off Grönnes in Flekkefjord there are good opportunities for mefo fishing and sea bass fishing. Other sea fish can also be caught here from land, depending on the tide. If you are interested in salmon or trout fishing, we recommend that you also visit the large freshwater lakes in the area and the rivers in Ana Sira or Kvinensdal (please note the closed seasons and the need for day tickets).
In good weather, you can even explore the south coast of Hidras, the Lista Plateau and Siragrunnen. Insider tips include the mussel bay in Vollesfjorden and the so-called "Pensioners' Bay" in the immediate vicinity of the house in Stolsfjorden.
The Siragrunnen and the fish-rich Listaplateau (also known as the soccer pitch because of the huge, sandy plateau, which is around 40-60 meters deep) can be reached by boat in good weather. However, these trips require careful nautical planning and really good weather conditions throughout the day.
It should be noted that you can also fish here in the Abelnes region on the open sea, which is one of the best fishing grounds with an impressive variety of fish species and amazing sizes in southern Norway. It is therefore important that you plan and weigh up your trips carefully. Please check the wind and wave height several times a day on the usual weather sites. Also follow the recommendations of the owners and the locals.
An insider tip is a wreck in the Listafjorden near Lista Fyr at a depth of 67 meters, where you can find impressive ling, sometimes also large cod and good pollack.
At and around the 'Pollackberg' in Listafjorden at a depth of 70 meters with its occurrence, strong sea fish, especially pollack, are regularly hooked, as our pictures prove. Ling, pollack and good cod can also be found directly south of the lighthouse, from 45 to 80 meters water depth, at the break-off noses.
Fishing in the Eidsfjord, near Cape Varnes and Stolsfjorden
The fishing area is located directly in front of the Eidsfjord with its two small skerries in the middle of the fjord, here are very good spots for pollack, cod and coalfish. The sandy bottom promises good catches of cod, ling and flatfish. Fishing in the fjord is possible every day. We have often fished in the Eidsfjorden and Stolsfjorden, including at the fjord entrances to the green cliffs with their stepped drop-offs and great depths, in the Stolsfjorden opposite or towards Cape Varnes with its famous pollack spots. There, at Cape Varnes, please fish at a safe distance from the steep banks. The pollack are abundant there among the underwater plants at shallow depths. Do not enter the small bays and harbors, beware of shallows.
In Eidsfjorden itself there are always cod, coalfish, pollack, ling, mackerel in summer, and occasionally salmon and sea trout when trolling. Flounder and plaice like to be found on sandy bottoms. This alternative is ideal in north-westerly winds when you can't go out. In easterly winds, trips are almost always possible. Please bear in mind that you are fishing here in the fjord just before the open sea, probably the best fishing area in southern Norway with a great variety of species and amazing fish sizes. Therefore, your trips should be well planned and considered.

We recommend evening visits to the restaurants and pubs in Flekkefjord, such as the Grand Hotel or the Maritim Hotel, which offer excellent cuisine. Boating license:
For guests born before 01.01.1980, no license for motorboats of this class is required in Norway. For younger persons, a boating license for boats with more than 25 hp is mandatory.
Binding rules of conduct - liability of the hirer:
We expect you to refrain from drinking alcohol on board, as you as the skipper bear a great deal of responsibility for the crew.
The hirer is liable for any damage caused by themselves and also for any damage caused by other users of the boat. The use of the boat is at the hirer's and all other users' own risk. The hirer shall inform his crew in good time that they may need to take out appropriate insurance against loss events themselves before the start of the trip. In addition, the skipper must familiarize the crew with the boat technology and the terms of the contract and ensure that all passengers wear life jackets on the trips.
If fish cleaning is to be carried out on the boat or on an appropriate filleting table on the jetty, please dispose of the fish waste at sea and not in the harbour basin. Always cover fish waste (seagulls).
Restriction of area:
Voyages are only permitted in the adjacent and suitable waters of the home port and near the coast.
A minimum distance of 100 meters must be maintained from fish farms or similar facilities. Failure to comply with the navigation rules may result in immediate termination of the tenancy by the lessor/owner. Claims of the tenant are therefore deemed forfeited.
Handover - Return:
The use of the boat is generally bound to the rental period of the booked object.
