The 800 year old house is located in the main village of the island , the “Hora “ and is part of the Venetian Castle – the “ Castro “ located right on the edge of a high cliff, offering a breath-taking view of the Aegean Sea from it’s magic sea view verandas. An ideal place to stay as it is the heart of the Village – centrally located – and simultaneously a quite place to stay – as no cars can enter the Castro Area.
Built in the 12th century by the Venetians, the stone house with its two terraces offers a fantastic sea view - perfect for an extended breakfast or a romantic dinner at sunset."

Spread over 2 floors, this diminutive 12th-century townhouse has been carefully renovated, keeping the original character using natural materials with some individual decorative touches. The outer walls of this house are stone build and more than one meter thick. The roof was restored like in the old times using ecological materials ( Ceramic layers, Stone and wood ) keeping the climate inside of the house comfortable even during summer. No air condition is therefore needed. In the first-floor you find a small living room with a small seating area, from where you can reach the roof top veranda with a breath-taking view of the Aegean Sea and the landmark ""the island's monastery"". In days with good view you may see Sifnos , Paros and Anti-Paros. The 2 seperate bedrooms are both located in the first floor. They are accessible from the inside of the house threw an old stone staircase and also threw the outside stairways with a small balcony. In the ground floor you find the kitchen area and an ""open shower"" with a small separate WC, which was carefully integrated in this 800 year old house. "

Please be aware that this house is 800 years old and that the available space for WC and shower and the stairway connecting the ground floor with the first floor are of massive stone, reflecting the architecture of that period, which make the difference to a new built house.
Even in the summer, the house is pleasantly cool due to its thick walls and well ventilated through the windows. Due to its ancient staircase this house is not suitable for small children or persons with special needs or walking problems. "
"The house - back then and today
The house was built in the 12th century by the Venetians as part of a fortress. The staircase and the foundation walls as well as the cedar are still from the original construction. The fortress served to secure trade routes. From here, the ships were the first to be seen and the enemies repulsed. Probably you still feel so safe in this place.
The house is located directly on the edge of the cliff and from the two terraces you can enjoy the breathtaking view at the edge of the cliff, which goes more than 200 meters into the depth. The natural power of the Aegean Sea is particularly noticeable here. On good visibility you can see the islands of Paros, Antiparos, Sifnos and Siros directly from the balcony.
From 2014 - 2017 the house has been restored from the scratch and has now hot water, a shower and WC, a washing machine and a fully equipped kitchen. All measures were carried out with regard to the old building and only natural materials and island-type building materials were used.
