The space
Tucked away in the friendly Teesdale village of Staindrop, The Snuggery is perfect for escaping everyday life for a while and discovering a wonderful, relatively unknown part of the country - or a bit of both.
It’s a very cute, 17th-century cottage which blends all the charm and character of its venerable old age with a range of contemporary living facilities to make any holiday experience a complete pleasure. The original stone floors and ceiling beams are complemented by simple, stylish furnishings while the introduction of various mod-cons adds an extra layer of comfort and convenience.
The single-storey accommodation is the perfect pad for two and comprises a generous double bedroom with a king-size bed and plenty of storage; a warm, welcome living room complete with gas stove-effect fire for the supreme fire-side experience; a fully-equipped kitchen for those who like to cook and dine in; and a shower room. There is also an enclosed patio area which overlooks burbling Langley Beck and the ancient estate walls of Raby Castle.
Staindrop itself is an ideal base from which to discover the Durham Dales – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - and the many and varied attractions of County Durham beyond. For starters, Raby Castle is on its doorstep; the market town of Barnard Castle is only 5 miles away and the cathedral city of Durham is a mere 30-minute drive to the north.
Parking can be found in the lay-by on Beckside (the road that runs parallel to the beck) opposite the cottage to the left. When parking here, please keep the area in front of the garage doors clear; perhaps use the telegraph pole as your marker.
Remote check-in gives you flexibility on arrival time and complimentary tea and coffee will help you ease into the holiday mood after your travels. Other items in the welcome pack include travel-sized bottles of shampoo, shower gel and soap, toilet roll, kitchen roll and a washing-up pack.
GUEST ACCESS
Guests have full use of the cottage, access to which is via the front door initially. Thereafter, and if you prefer, you can use the patio door to come and go.
CHECK IN/OUT TIMES
Check-in time is after 3pm and check-out time is 10am. A £30 charge will be requested if guests check themselves in early without permission or if guests do not check out on time as this will disrupt our cleaning schedule.
KEYS
Please note that you will be charged £100 for lost keys, so please be careful with them.
INVENTORY
Please take all reasonable and proper care of the property and its contents, leaving them in the same condition as you found them. Within reason, you will be liable for the costs of replacement, repair or extra cleaning costs as a direct result of any breakages or damages that you cause during your stay.

I won’t generally be around in person during your stay but you'll have 24/7 guest support from a dedicated team at Pass the Keys should you need any assistance.

This includes a guarantee that the cottage is professionally cleaned and maintained, and that freshly laundered linen and a welcome pack are provided after each stay.
