Welcome to our little getaway! Rustic and beautiful, this is the perfect place to get away from it all, unplug and unwind.
Come and stay in our historic cabin, built in the 1850's during California's Gold Rush and full of charm and character that comes only with age and the many, many stories that have been lived in it. Our family lives on this 8 acre property and we are delighted to be able to share it with you!
Peaceful and laid-back, enjoy the open space and simple pace of life found in this beautiful area. Towering pines surround open pastures that give a beautiful view from the picture windows and back porch of the South House. In the cooler months, we use only wood to heat the house: build a cozy fire in the woodstove that provides that special kind of warmth that only a woodstove can bring- perfect for evenings reading by the fire or sitting next to with your morning coffee. When summer weather comes, copious amounts of beautiful lakes and rivers are within a half hour's drive to cool you down and give those dreamy lake days that make the best memories.
The quaint and historic town of beautiful Dutch Flat is only a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive from the South House cabin. You will find the delicious Monte Vista Inn just down the road. Head up the hill on HWY 80 to Truckee in 45 minutes, or head down the hill on 80 to Auburn in 26 minutes. Hiking is available year round with everything from the wooded walks at the back of our property to the 9 mile round trip hike at Steven's Trail.
The South House cabin comes with a fully stocked kitchen, a newly remodeled bathroom, all linens provided, and if there is anything you need we are right next door. The loft is a favorite place for kids (there is no railing so please be mindful!) A bubble bath in the clawfoot tub is a great way to relax, and the queen size bed as well as sofa bed and loft sleeping pads will provide a comfortable and cozy night's sleep during your stay. As this house stands directly across from the railroad tracks (as it has for over a hundred years!), we provide a sound machine to further help in getting a restful night's sleep.
