Casa Piccola - The Little House on the Square | Maison dans Caneva

This house is located in Caneva, in the the Italian region of Fruili-Venezia Giulia. A historic town with a trek up the hills to the Castello di Caneva which dates back to the year 1000. The square (piazza) also offers its own sights with the parish church dating to 1822. There are several trails to hike or bike along Mountain Hwy or on the trails around the vineyards and olive groves.
If you wish to take a picnic, we have provided a basket and blanket, as well as picnic backpack.
The space:
Our cozy la cassetta ("little house") sulla piazza (on the square) accommodates 2-4 and by using the couch, you can reach 5 guests. The house is located directly on the square where you should expect chatter and some noise at times, and especially Friday mornings with the market immediately out front. With that you have access to lots of amenities at your doorstep, such as two cafés/bars, a small store, farmacia, bakery, butchers and ice cream store.
The house is believed to have been built around the 1930's-1940's. Arranged on 3 floors, you enter the home through the green security door straight into the humble living room with beam ceiling. Under a low entryway and step down is the small kitchen with modern induction stove, microwave, coffee supplies and some basic necessities to make your stay more comfortable.
Leading to the second floor via a narrow stairway is the first bedroom with king size bed and original imperfectly creaky flooring. You will also find the bathroom with shampoo and soap provided. Up the narrow spiral stairway you will reach the newly extended open plan (no privacy door) top floor with a king bed and private balcony which offers little sights but instead a place to sit and enjoy a coffee.

All parts of the home are available for private access.
Other things to note:
This house may not be the right fit for those with disabilities or small children. There are several low ceiling/entryways with the addition of the small narrow open stairway. Everyone, however is welcome and we do have a portable crib located under the top floor mattress. We also have some games available including giant Connect 4 and Jenga.
We have two inflatable paddleboards available with the house. Please note these must be requested in advance and are subject to availability.
Parking:
Parking is available for two vespas or an extremely small car (think classic Fiat 500). We recommended parking in the vicinity with free parking available on street.
